Privacy policy

Metis AI Visibility (“Metis AI”, “we”) is a Shopify embedded admin app. This policy describes the data we store when a merchant installs and uses the app.

Who this app is for

The app is used by Shopify merchants (store staff) inside Shopify Admin. Shoppers on a merchant’s storefront do not use this app.

Data we collect

• Shop domain and session data required to authenticate through Shopify OAuth.
• Catalog information needed for scans: product titles, product types, and the category and hero products a merchant selects.
• Scan results: visibility scores, shopper prompts, model responses, and competitor names the merchant enters.
• Subscription status from Shopify Billing (plan name and whether a charge is active).
• Optional contact details a merchant submits for a strategy call or plan interest (name, work email, role, notes).

Data we do not collect

We do not store Shopify customer profiles, order contents, checkout data, or storefront visitor identities. Product reads use the read_products scope only.

How we use data

We use shop and catalog data to run AI visibility scans, show reports in Admin, enforce plan limits, and follow up on consult requests the merchant submits. We send shopper prompts to the AI models included in the merchant’s plan (ChatGPT, and Claude and/or Gemini depending on the plan).

Sharing

Scan prompts are sent to the AI providers required to complete a scan. Payments are processed by Shopify Billing. We do not sell merchant data.

Retention and deletion

We keep shop-level records while the app is installed. When Shopify sends a shop/redact webhook after uninstall, we delete onboarding, scans, events, consult leads, subscribe interest, subscription records, and sessions for that shop.
